Always ready with his positive attitude, big heart and tireless work ethic, Tio Bernie was beloved for supporting and inspiring those around him to shine their brightest. As a long time cook working at Luna Inspired Street Food in downtown Ithaca, NY, Bernie's big laugh and light humor always lit up the room and brought a smile to your face. On November 3, 2020 the world lost that light when Bernie suddenly and unexpectedly passed away.
Born and raised in Teziutlan, Mexico before settling in Ithaca, New York, Bernie loved his family most of all, working hard to help them get ahead while cherishing good times shared with his two children, Gustavo and Alejandra and nephews, Agustin and Luis. As they unexpectedly close his estate and plan his memorial, they anticipate $10,000 in expenses including funeral expenses and sending him home to rest in Mexico.
Words cannot express how much the loss of Bernie means to many of us who were proud and lucky to call him our brother, uncle and friend. As the family mourns his passing and prepares to send him home, we gratefully thank you from the bottom of their hearts for any contributions you are are able to make.
Donations will go directly to the family to cover all funeral expenses and anything raised above the goal will support the family as they take their next steps without their beloved Tio Bernie.
