Hi, my name is Misty, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my puppy, Diesel.

Diesel is a 5-month-old Yorkie who has been my little ball of energy and joy. Recently, I noticed he was having trouble walking and keeping his balance. After taking him to his primary and ER vet for a neuro consult, we learned his neurological symptoms are affecting his brainstem, cerebellum, and possibly his spine. Right now, the doctors suspect an infectious or inflammatory disorder, but other congenital conditions are possible.

Diesel has already started medication while we wait for test results for Toxoplasma and Neospora, two serious infections that can affect the nervous system. He is also scheduled this week with the Neurology team for an MRI and spinal tap to get clearer answers.

As you can imagine, these tests and treatments are very costly, with the MRI estimate alone up to $6,500. On top of that, Diesel will continue to need follow-up care, medications, and possibly further treatments depending on what the results reveal.

Despite everything, Diesel is still his sweet, spunky self, wagging his little tail and fighting through the wobbliness. I want to give him the best chance possible to recover and live the long, happy life he deserves.
