Futuna island in Vanuatu "Cyclone" Famine Relief

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Mary and I was born and raised in a village called Iasoa in Tafea Province on a tiny Island in Vanuatu called Futuna. Vanuatu - Futuna

My custom name is Munu and I have lived in Newcastle Australia for the past 15yrs.

In late March 2023 our island was hit by 2 x cyclones that wiped out almost every building on the island. Cyclone's Kevin & Judy

My village was wiped out except for the church that is currently providing shelter for the entire community. The roof of the church was damaged but is fixable..

My island Futuna is a long way from Port Vila and if the government can eventually assist, there will be basic food provided and that is it..

We have a huge job rebuilding our little village. Iasoa - Futuna

We need basic items such as chainsaws and building materials such as iron roofing sheets, structural timber & tools.

Please help.

Iasoa locals are resilient, they will live off the island with food that is not ruined and can all gather in the church until other means of shelter are available.

There are no bikes, cars or trucks as the terrain is quite harsh & steep in most places. Futuna Map

Luckily the locals are strong & able to carry items from a boat to their village.

The items will be transported from Port Vila to Futuna via boat asap.

Attached are some photos taken a few days ago when a camera was available.

These pics show the devastation in the entire village of Iasoa.

Please help!

Every $ will be used efficiently to rebuild this beautiful village to accommodate around 60 locals.

I will provide updated information on Facebook in the future once some rebuilding starts.

Whatever amount of money that is raised will be used to purchase items from the only hardware store called Wilco's in Port Vila on the island of Efate`.

This money will be managed by my cousin Andre who is currently in Port Vila. We will transfer the money to his ANZ account in Port Vila from my ANZ account here in Australia. This way there are minimal transfer fees required and the village will gain the most help.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

The pic above shows the remains of the house I stayed in with my hubby & 2 young daughters for a holiday back in 2016. Today is Friday 10th March and they have not yet found the roof.
