Tiny Heart, Big Fight: Valentina’s Journey

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Beth Anne, and I have had the honor of being in Maria’s life for the past 10 years. I’ve walked alongside her through so many seasons, and now I’m asking for help as she faces one of the most challenging journeys yet.

She and her husband, Edgar, are expecting their first child, sweet baby girl, Valentina. She is already so deeply loved, and we are trusting for strength, healing, and provision every step of the way. I created this GoFundMe to support them as they prepare for the medical care, surgeries, and unknowns ahead.

Valentina has been diagnosed with several complex congenital heart and organ conditions. She has Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome (HRHS), meaning the right side of her heart is underdeveloped. She also has Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV), where both major arteries come from the right side of her heart instead of being properly separated.

In addition, Valentina has Pulmonary Stenosis (PS), which means the pathway to her lungs is very narrow, making it harder for blood to flow properly.

She has also been diagnosed with heterotaxy syndrome, a condition that affects how her organs are arranged. Her stomach is on the right side, her liver sits in the middle, her intestines are rotated, and she does not have a spleen, which can affect her immune system.

Because of these conditions, Valentina will need at least two major heart surgeries, one around 3 months old and another around 3 years old, to help correct the “plumbing” of her heart and improve how it functions.

Immediately after birth, she will be transferred to the pediatric cardiac care unit at Children’s Hospital. There, doctors will perform genetic testing, an MRI, and evaluate whether her pulmonary veins are properly connected to her heart. Depending on what they find, she may need emergency surgery right after birth.

This journey will come with long hospital stays, ongoing medical care, and many unknowns. There will be time away from work, travel to and from the hospital, and the emotional weight that comes with caring for a medically complex child.

If you feel led to give, pray, or share this page, it would mean more than words can express. Every bit of support helps ease the burden and allows this family to focus on what matters most—loving and caring for Valentina.

Thank you for standing with them during this time.
