My daughter, Jessica's, baby girl has been in the hospital since birth in early June. Jessica and her husband had initially assumed they would be in the NICU for 2-3 months, then their daughter who had already been diagnosed with CDH (a birth defect requiring life-saving surgery) made her debut prematurely. After having been in the NICU in their home state after nearly 5 months with no real progress, they transferred to another hospital 2500 miles away for a higher level of care. With more months to go (likely totaling around 1-year inpatient), the medical bills are already in the "millions" and climbing. Expenses for everything continue to rise in general for simple things like food because they do not have time to cook while being in the hospital all day, every day. The longer-than-expected hospital stay (along with the need to travel back home after discharge) has taken a toll on both sides of the fence financially: their pocketbook AND income because only one of them can work. That being said, any assistance to help them with these surmounting medical costs and everything that goes with it would be greatly appreciated.

Update: After 9 long months in the hospital, Daanya requires yet another surgery. This surgery will be the 5th as far as dates, 4th as far as incisions (specifically laparotomies) & technically 7th or 8th procedure depending on what all they can get done. We hope this is the last surgery for a while & it will be what she needs ultimately to be discharged. We still do not know when that might be because the road to recovery post-op could be quite long.
