Hello everyone-
My name is Katie and I’m creating this fund for my cat, Tinsel. Over the past 3-4 weeks, she has gradually continued to lose weight, now to the point of being badly emaciated. She has lost nearly half of her body weight, and we’re having a lot of trouble with her gaining weight due to not wanting to eat.
She has had 2 vet visits in the past three weeks. The first visit, we were able to get a general blood panel, felv/fiv test, a cerenia injection for nausea, and a minor amount of subcutaneous fluids before she lost her cool. If you know Tinsel at all, you know that’s a miracle in itself to have gotten what we did.
The initial blood work raised concern for irritable bowel disease. A couple days after that initial blood work, we were back at the vet due to Tinsel having a bought of vomiting.
Due to the vomiting, we went ahead and drew more blood for a full GI panel, took X-rays, more injectable cerenia, and took some meds home to help her eat. She is also on a medication to prevent blood clots, and a steroid.
As of today, Tinsel was doing well with eating and using the litter box. But when I got home from work on 10/3, her feet were covered with urine and feces, and when I walked into the bedroom, I saw where she had a bit of an explosive accident on the bed. So, it was time for a tear filled bath.
I received a very generous gift of $300 from Asheville Cat Weirdos, but that’s all the support I am able to receive right now. I’m making this gofundme so I can continue to get her the care she needs. Next step is an ultrasound, and critical care prescription food. After that, I’m not sure what the future holds for her.
After today’s incident, I’m terrified I’m going to lose her. She is so frail and thin. If you can help, even by sharing this, I will eternally grateful. She means the world to me and I would spend every single cent I have on her, but since I’ve done that over the past couple weeks, I’m getting behind on the important bills.
Thank you for reading this far, and helping if you are able.
