Hi, my name is Amber Dickey and I am raising funds for my dear friend and former colleague, Tina Kappler.
In November 2022, Tina was diagnosed with stage 4 Endometrial Cancer, a diagnosis that turned her world upside down. She immediately underwent a radical hysterectomy, a procedure that marked the beginning of her battle against this relentless disease.
The struggle intensified when, just a few months later in February 2023, Tina received another blow—She was laid off from her job. With the loss of my employment came the loss of insurance, leaving her to face a staggering bill of $52,000 for just one month of vital treatment. Despite securing a payment plan with City of Hope (Newnan, GA) to ensure she could continue receiving lifesaving treatment, the financial burden began to escalate rapidly during the six months she spent without a job.
Despite her efforts to seek financial assistance, every avenue she explored seemed to lead to dead ends. She was denied aid across the board, leaving her to bear the mounting expenses alone. As the treatment payments took precedence, her other bills fell by the wayside, plunging her deeper into a cycle of debt and uncertainty.
Tina began her own side hustle by making hair bows to order on her website whatacutiebowtique.com. This was not only an extra stream of income, but a release and distraction for her during this extremely difficult time. She loves bringing joy to others, even during unthinkable times. If this doesn't tell you how strong and resilient this woman is, I don't know what will.
Each passing month brings with it the harsh reality of financial instability. With barely enough to cover basic necessities, even groceries become a luxury. Her car, essential for commuting to and from treatments, now sits with payments several months behind. While she is fortunate to work from home, the threat of losing means of transportation is added stress.
I'm reaching out to you, humbly asking for your support as she navigates this challenging journey. Your generosity could mean the world to her, offering a glimmer of hope in an otherwise dark time. Any contribution, no matter how small, would be deeply appreciated and would go directly towards easing the financial strain and allowing her to focus on what truly matters—her health and well-being.
Thank you for taking the time to read her story, and for considering supporting Tina in her fight against stage 4 Endometrial Cancer. Your kindness and compassion mean more to her than words can express.
Warm Regards,
Amber Dickey
