Tina's Smile
At the age of 17, I was diagnosed with a rare juvenile periodontal disease that resulted in the loss of bone and teeth. This disease had a huge impact on my well-being and in my effort to combat the disease, I was treated by a dentist that I could afford at the time. After the initial diagnosis, the disease worsened and most of my teeth were removed by my 25th birthday.
At 66 years of age, I am in desperate need of critical work due to progressive deterioration and bone loss. The remainder of my bottom teeth need to be extracted and I am in need of four implants to lessen the impact on my jawbone and hold the dentures in place.
The experience of losing my teeth and receiving dentures at an early age has caused me to be more intentional about asking the right questions and to use discernment about finding the right professionals to provide the best care to manage the disease.
Time and experience have taught me not to cut costs over the quality of care. I have consulted with three specialists for the best course of action medically and financially, and the cost for the procedure is approximately $50,000.
With your financial assistance, I can schedule the procedure as soon as August 1, 2021.
Your donation of any amount will assist me with covering the costs of this life-changing procedure.
Gratefully,
Tina

Overall health and oral health are connected. Periodontal disease has a high rate of prevalence in members of the African-American community, more than any other population, which can lead to serious health conditions if left untreated. The statistics surrounding periodontal disease and serious health conditions, unfortunately, impact African-American women at an alarming rate. Most people don't know how much dental services and treatments are until the issue or pain is so bad, and then told that their dental insurance doesn't cover 100% of all costs.
