Anyone who knows my parents, know how incredibly selfless and loving they are. They have committed their lives to helping others whether it be bringing hope to women and children who have been victims of human sex trafficking, loving on children who have no one to love them, helping supply children with gifts at christmastime or simply providing a meal or coffee for someone who is homeless.
They are the founders of Love Missions, which leads groups of teams on trips all over the world to help those who are hurting. They are co-owners of Palate Coffee Brewery in Sanford which is a VOLUNTEER-led business that donates their profits to helping rescue children out of sex trafficking.
These are just a FEW examples of how they have chosen to spend their lives. Helping provide for others. But now THEY need help. They would never ask for help themselves.
Last month, my mom, Tina was diagnosed with Invasive Ductile Carcinoma, breast cancer. She needs surgery and treatment. Unfortunately cancer treatments are not cheap, with or without insurance and while my parents work non stop, they are struggling to even make ends meet, let alone pay for the treatements she will need in the coming months. While they do have some insurance, it is very minimal. They recently received their first bill, from the very first biopsy she had on April 2nd, and their finanacial responsibility for that procedure was $20,000. She has since had another biospy, MRI's and many other tests and procedures, and that hasn't even been the tip of the iceberg with what is to come after surgery and once treatment begins.
My mom is literally the best person I know. She has become known in the central Florida community, for the amazing person she is. She helps even when it's not easy and she gives when she has nothing to give. I hate that she is going through this, another life changing event in a life that has already been challenging. She should be able to focus on getting better and getting through treatment instead of having to worry about how they are going to pay for it. Some procedures they have even already had to pay out of pocket $1000's of dollars before they would even do the procedure.
If you can help in any way, please do. I wish I was collecting for an awesome, well-deserved vacation for my parents instead of cancer treatment, because that's what they deserve. But for now, this is where we're at. Every little bit helps. So please donate if you can, share and pray. We're not sure exactly what this road is going to look like, but whatever it is, my mom needs your prayers and support.
