TEAMING UP FOR TINA

August 11th, 2017 Tina took a devastating blow hearing that her Leukemia relapsed after 6 years in remission. What exactly did that mean...she KNEW what the fight would entail: the extended hospital stay, the chemo, the many bone marrow biopsies, blood transfusions, and the financial burden that comes along with it.  Time away from her children, her husband, and home.  Scariest of all, she knew that in order to live, she'd need all that and MORE.

MORE it is...
Tina had to receive a bone marrow transplant in order to live. (Chemo would would put her into remission, but the leukemia would just return again and again, becoming harder to put into remission until it would ultimately kill her.) On December 21, 2017 she received her second chance at life. Thank you again to that amazing young man for the ultimate gift! With her family by her side, for four hours, her new 'life' was transfused (or pumped) into her.  The first 100 days being most critical in her fight. She spent the first 27 in Penn and has been living with parents since. The amount of care that she requires is extensive.

Funds for Tina
Here's where your generosity is needed. As part of Tina's recovery, she has no immune system (for a year). That means she needs to be in a clean/sterile environment avoiding bacteria and germs. Prior to even going into the hospital she had to purchase enough clothes to pack in airtight bags for 14 days, clothes to accommodate the picclines and hickman catheters, shower shoes, room shoes, and new toiletries - all in relation to avoiding bacteria. Today at home, she continues to need that special care. In addition, she requires special food (prepared individually) as she needs to consume 1500-2000 calories per day.  She goes once a week to Penn for her check-ups. The gas, tolls, parking, co-pays, and weekly prescription costs is over $100 alone.

Tina's focus needs to be on fighting for her life, not on the financial strain this is causing. Since August she's depleted her short term disability from work and her long term won't start until March (and that's only 60% of her pay).  Not only is her income compromised, but her husband is facing less hours with his work.

Tina's Team
Tina is an AMAZING mom to three precious children/young adults. Her oldest, Justin, is a sophomore at Stockton, James is a HS Sophomore, and her little girl, Emily, is in 8th grade. They've witnessed the fight their mom endured not once, but now twice. They've sacrificed from not having her there for their first days of school, to dances, sporting events, and just 'being home.'  This year they woke up on Christmas to her in being in the hospital. They don't know how much of a financial sacrifice they make because they live such a humble life and appreciate everything they have and ALL the help they receive.  Let's face it though, raising 3 teenagers is quite costly (food, clothes, outings, school events, tuition, etc.).  Tina's husband, Bill, has been trying to maintain things around their home. He is a union floor layer and his work can range from having extra to none at all. (Yes - no work means no pay!) Recently he was out of work for a week and since then it hasn't been a full week.

How can you help?
Please share this with those you know...Facebook is an amazing network.  Anything you can share/donate is a HUGE help. If you're not comfortable donating this way, there are other ways to help Tina and HER FAMILY. Gift cards to grocery stores (Acme, Shoprite, BJs etc.), gift cards to local eateries, gift cards to gas station (for parents driving her to Dr. apts and her children to the many places they need), contributing to a utility bill, and simple Visa gift cards are very helpful.  Spring is just around the corner and with kids that means clothes, sports, etc. Anything you can do to take some of this financial burden off their hands is greatly appreciated.

Teaming Up for Tina
Please continue to pray for Tina. She has a LONG, hard, road ahead of her still. She is making such great progress and the doctors are very pleased with how well she's doing. Together, we can carry her through this battle...
