The Webb family on behalf of Tina Marie Webb. Some of you know that our family has recently suffered a major tragedy and horrific loss. Our beautiful 37-year-old daughter has suffered a catastrophic head injury. Her head injury quickly turned life-threatening due to a blood disorder she already had. The hospital in Fresno, California, called and told us she had fallen unconscious. They needed permission to perform emergency surgery. A parent's worst nightmare. We scrambled as a family to get to her as soon as possible, all the way from Alabama to California. Due to not having a star on my license, my husband and I drove 29 hours straight from Alabama to California. When we arrived, we were informed that she was in a coma and was put on life support. We prayed and we prayed, praying for a miracle for her to wake up. They told us the longer she stayed in a coma, the worse it was going to be. Our baby did not wake up. With the blood disorder, surgery was out of the question because she would not survive. Then we were told the heart-wrenching news that there was nothing medically they could do for her except pray for a miracle. Our miracle did not come. They informed us they could not ethically keep her on life support when there’s not going to be a life-sustaining outcome at the end, and they were going to remove her life support. So now here we are, watching our child slowly die before our eyes. All we can do is love her, comfort her, hold her hand, and cry. The pain we are going through is unimaginable, and the financial strain it has put on our family and future expenses is overwhelming. We know we’re coming to the end of this nightmare. Now, while we have to endure the agony of watching our daughter slip further and further away from us, we start getting literature on funeral arrangements. Meanwhile, our daughter is still clinging to life. The heartbreak, trauma, and sheer agony of this entire situation have got us completely overwhelmed.
