Tim’s new bed

Donation protected
Tim Is ex military, worked hard his entire adult life and is just 40 years young.

He has incurable advanced kidney cancer which was diagnosed in January 2022, Since his diagnosis he had a full open radical nephrectomy In Feb 2022 to remove his entire right kidney, tumour and 3 lymph nodes.

He was having regular 3 monthly CT scans and sadly in February 2023 he and his wife were given the awful news the cancer had returned and has spread to his lungs.
Tim started immunotherapy and for a few months it worked with slowing the progression of this decrease but they were told recently it has stopped working and the cancer has become unstable and aggressive, all the lung nodules have increased in size.

Tim married his wife Anne on the 29/07/2023 and he stood without aids when he said his vowels and they had there his first Dance despite Tim being in pain.
Tim and Anne were told by the professionals involved with Tim that the pain in Tims knee which became worse when he returned from his stag weekend in Tenerife was likely to be side effects from the immunotherapy drugs Tim had been having.

As Tim and Anne were about to book a honeymoon 3 days after the wedding and have a very much needed holiday they had more devastating news via a phone call from Tims oncologist.

The cancer has spread further to Tims knee and femur and there is a large tumour which is getting larger in a very short space of time due to the aggressive nature of renal cancer tumours.

In the space of 5 weeks life has ounce again been tipped upside down and Tim can’t even stand without the help of Anne when at home and has to have walking aids (crutches and a wheel chair)

This also means they’ve had to hold off starting the second line treatment which consists of target therapy and bone cancer injections.
The second line treatment is for slowing the progression of the aggressive metastatic spread in his lungs and sternum after he has a full knee replacement and reconstruction of part of the femur, this will also be along side intensive physio therapy.

Tim should have been able to go away and relax in the sunshine on honeymoon with his wife after the wedding and instead they’ve had constant hospital appointments and terrible news.

Tim today on the 5th September is in surgery miles away from his home, family and friends.
His wife Anne is staying at the hospital to support Tim and with the help of her sister has managed to arrange childcare for 10 year old Beth for a few days before Anne goes home ready for Bethany to sit the grammar test on Thursday this week.

It’s a very difficult time for all of them and with Tim now being at the hospital for the last week it’s been an expensive hospital stay for them.

Anne arranged with the hospital to have an occupational health review before Tims surgery as Tim now needs a hospital bed at home but he can only be provided with a single one from the NHS on loan which would have to be put in the living room where Anne and Tims 2 children age 17 and 10 relax and have normal family time.

With Tim and Anne being young and newly married the quote for a hospital bed tailored to Tims declining health needs that they can share is just over £5,000! (That’s half price with a discount code!)

Tim is trying maintain as normal life as possible and Anne has had to take a substantial time off from her job as a school secretary to care for Tim, assist him with every day tasks and support him in every aspect of having a normal life.
She has had an extremely stressful 18 months and had more to deal with than most on her own the majority of the time.

Tim will never be cured from the cancer he has and it will only spread more over time, meaning as his needs will only become more not less for however much Time Tim has left.

please help allow Tim to be comfortable at home and to have a normal nights sleep next to his wife for as long as possible.

The Bed needed will mean Anne will no longer have to lift Tim out of bed hurting her back in the process, Tim will get not only comfort but be able to adjust the bed to what his mobility and breathing needs are each day and be able to get a good nights sleep in a position that means he is not in pain.
