Tim's Journey: Facing Cancer Together
Spende geschützt
With aching hearts, we announce the death of Timothy Dallas Butterfield, age 67, who joined his beloved mother Peggy Butterfield in heaven on her birthday, June 7, 2025. He was also preceded in death by his father John Butterfield, his brother Tom Butterfield, his nieces Rachel Butterfield and Sarah Passow, and his nephews Gary Piper and Tim Maynard.
Tim was born December 19, 1957, in Jackson, Michigan, and spent 43 years in ministry where he poured his life into teenagers, college students, married couples, and everyone else he met for that matter. He didn’t know a stranger because he was a friend to everyone, and he’d offer a one-liner to anyone just to get a chuckle. He served at Grace Community Church in Corsicana, Texas for the last 2 ½ years and found love and friendship there. Above all he was a family man, a loving husband to his wife of 41 years, the world’s best dad to 5 children, and a doting Papa to 8 grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Tina Butterfield, his daughter Alisha Rico and husband Robby Rico, his son Timothy Butterfield and wife Kailee Talsma, his son Jared Butterfield and wife Shelby Butterfield, his son Luke Butterfield, his daughter Whitney Butterfield, his sisters Carole Piper and Lori Merklinger, his nephews Stephen Holt, Aaron Holt, Tommy Butterfield, Jeremy Merklinger, and Joshua Merklinger, his nieces Elisabeth Ramirez, April Macomber, Becky Morton, Joy Allen, Joanna Merklinger, his grandsons Ryder Ly, Rhen Rico, Rory Rico, Rowan Rico, and Rowdy Rico, and his granddaughters Darling Butterfield, Brightyn Butterfield and Angelica Delgado.
We are going to celebrate Tim’s well-lived life on June 21, 2025, 11 a.m., at Grace Community Church, 227 N. Beaton Street, Corsicana, TX 75110, where you can make a donation to the building fund in lieu of flowers. A meal will be provided in the Warehouse after the service.
As Tim used to say: “Gone but not forgotten.” Oh, we miss you so much, Tim, but you’re forever in our hearts.
My name is Alisha and I’m blessed to be Tim’s daughter. I’m going to preface this post by asking that people please not bombard my parents with calls, messages, or texts . They are in Michigan visiting family while my dad still has the strength to do so. If you would like to send my parents a message of some sort, please comment on this post and I will make sure they see it.
I think some know at this point, but not many, that my dad has been battling bladder cancer for a little over a year. We recently learned during a hospital stay for an unrelated health issue that it has sadly metastasized to his liver. My dad has been driving back and forth to DFW for treatments over the last year, which as many can imagine has put a great strain on both he and my mom. We now face a whole new set of challenges as we anticipate different treatment options in the face of stage 4 cancer. My dad’s first appointment with MD Anderson is this upcoming Thursday and we will hopefully have more answers at that time, but I wanted to set up a gofundme in anticipation of their impending financial needs. My dad has given his entire adult life to helping others with little to no financial return, although the return on the other side I know will be realized greatly. He has touched so many lives, and given of his time and effort so selflessly, and I wanted to give others the opportunity to help him in his greatest time of need. I would like his sole attention and effort to be focused on getting well and not worrying about anything beyond that. We appreciate ANY help friends and family can offer, but most importantly, PLEASE pray and share .
