Hi, We are the Family of Tim Hayes. We are here to help raise funds for him.
On September 26, Tim began complaining of pains in his chest, trouble breathing and overall not feeling well. As his symptoms worsened, Tim’s dad, Richard, decided to drive him to the ER. Tim was diagnosed with pneumonia and admitted immediately to Intensive Care. X-rays that should show clear lung tissue were speckled with infection. A culture of the infection was sent to Mayo Clinic to help identify the type of pneumonia. Tim is fully vaccinated from COVID and has repeatedly tested negative.
On Friday, October 1 Tim was transferred to University of Iowa Hospital, where he remains in intensive care.
His oxygen levels continue to be unstable and he’s has issues with his blood pressure. Tim was placed on a ventilator to help his lungs while his body works to fight the infection. The pneumonia has been found to be from a fungal infection, called blastomycosis. So far, the antifungal medicine has not been able to clear up his lungs, and one lung collapsed Friday, October 9.
Tim remains sedated and on a ventilator while his body tries to heal and overcome the pneumonia. He has a very long road ahead of him. Diane, Rich and Tyler have traveled back and forth between Mason City and Iowa City to be with Tim. Only one visitor is allowed per day, meaning at least one of the family has been spending multiple days and nights in a hotel during the last two weeks.
If you would like to assist with the financial burden for Tim, any donation through GoFundMe would be appreciated. Donations received will be used for medical costs and related travel expenses for Diane, Rich and Tyler.
On behalf of Tim, we greatly appreciate the prayers and support.
