100 Yards from a Dream: Honoring the Legacy of Timothy Washington Sr.

Every January, as we approach the anniversary of the day we lost him, our family rededicates itself to this mission. January 7 is no longer just a day of mourning—it is a day of action. This is our Annual Memorial Campaign, and our goal is to keep pushing toward that $50K mark so we can change the lives of students in Bristol every single year.

On January 7, 2024, the world lost a giant. I lost my father, my hero, and my best friend.

For those who knew Timothy Washington, you knew his heart was as big as his love for the Dallas Cowboys. After years of dreaming about it, I finally surprised him with tickets to the season finale in Washington, D.C.

It was going to be his first-ever NFL game.

We spent that morning doing what we did best: talking about life, politics, and football. It was the "guys trip" we had waited a lifetime for. We were happy. We were excited. We were 100 yards away from the stadium gates when the unthinkable happened. My dad collapsed and passed away in my arms.

He never got to see his Cowboys play. He never got to hear the roar of the crowd.
