Hi, my name is Timothy Perdue. I am seeking funding to attend a summer enrichment program at Stanford University. The specific program that I've applied for is Legal Studies: Argumentative and Critical Thinking Skills. This program will identify flaws in my critical thinking, learning to analyze a complex set of facts, weigh evidence, anticipate the other side’s points, and deliver a better argument. I will sharpen my argumentative skills through lively debates, role-playing and group work. Finally, I will have your day in ‘court’ as an attorney or witness in a mock trial, awaiting the judge’s verdict. This course will dive into human rights issues of global interest, and students will develop a network of like-minded peers. While this course is valuable for future attorneys, everyone will benefit from it. I will work collaboratively in an inclusive learning environment, supporting diverse viewpoints. I want to attend this program because this program will allow me to build on my resume, strengthen my Argumentative and Critical Thinking Skills, as well as build my knowledge in that field of learning which would help me as a person analyze legal material and make decisions based on evidence shown as well as to help further develop my critical thinking skills. As a student who is thinking about pursuing a further interest in law and becoming a future attorney, these necessary skills are valuable to me, and to many others aspiring to be in the legal field. The cost of this program is $3,050 and is needed by next week June 8th @ 11:59 PDT. Your help will be much appreciated! Thank you so much.
