If you know Timori, you already love her. She has the sweetest, kindest soul and is always laughing and dancing. Three years ago she shaved her head at a St. Baldricks event to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer research, and to show solidarity for kids with cancer. Who would think that just 3 years later she would be going through treatment herself and losing her hair again? Timori is brave, strong and selfless. She loves making everyone around her smile, especially her big brothers, Noah and Tristan.
Yesterday, at 14 years old, Timori was diagnosed with Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC), a very rare type of Cancer. At the Phoenix Children’s Hospital, they have only seen one other child in 20 years with this type of cancer. On March 17 she checked into the hospital to get her port put in, so they have an easy and sterile place to administer the chemo drugs. She will also get a g-tube so they can supply nutrients directly to her stomach. In two weeks, Timori will begin a 4-6 month rigorous course of chemotherapy and radiation therapy to kick this cancer to curb. It will be a long and arduous journey. Timori smiles even though she is terrified of all the needles, losing her hair, and feeling sick all the time. Timori’s parents, Kurt and Trina, would never ask for help, but I think it is important for them to both be able to take their daughter to treatments at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. If we all give a little, it might take a bit of the burden off their shoulders. Kurt and Trina need to be able to take some time away from work and focus on their baby girl.
I know money is tight for everyone in these crazy days, so if you can’t donate, that is completely understandable. But, please say prayers for Timori!
