It's extremely sobering to be the family that cancer inevitably affects. It's so common and something many know so well, but when it hits your family, it's completely unique and a very new kind of evil. 

Three months ago, my dad was chosen to be cancer's next prey.  It struck the leader of our family.  It attacked one of the most honorable and underserving man our family knows. No one ever deserves the suffering this brings, and sickness is not prejudice as to who it picks. It wants everything and everyone. We accept this and my dad has bravely looked this challenge in the face and said he's "ready and the Lord has given me peace."

I could go on and on about every single detail, but the truth comes down to this: Dad has been prescribed one year of chemotherapy along with radiation. My parents have insurance, but it is a high deductable plan. This means they are required to meet their deductable of $6800 before insurance starts taking care of the rest. This deductible is what it takes to continue treatment for the year 2017. The closer we can get them to this goal, the more peace my parents can continue to have. 

As a family, we appreciate ANY WAYS our family and friends choose to reach out. Monetary is not necessary. A simple text or prayer has been more than enough to keep my dad's spirits in a great place. We appreciate how much the people that surround us have already done and love you all very much.
