It is with great humility, love, and care that we ask you to help out our Pops…
He has always been our family’s pillar of strength and someone to turn to for help. Now, he needs our help and it's clear to us we can't do it by ourselves. 2 years ago, he was in a car accident while he was working and the aftermath of this accident has been dramatically life altering. He needs help paying medical bills (past, present & future) to receive proper care and hopefully to recover.
His health has declined so much since the accident that he spends most of his time in bed with intense fevers and fears moving because it’s so painful, which makes his return to work less and less likely as his doctor visits continue to come up short. He begs for proper treatment, but the workers comp program DENIES him care and he doesn't have personal medical insurance. To make matters worse, worker's compensation has now stopped issuing his meager monthly checks based on a single doctor's opinion while the doctors who have been examining and testing him since the beginning of this ordeal all agree that he is entirely unfit to return to work under any circumstances. We have already spent thousands seeking proper care apart from worker's comp but can't afford to anymore.
Furthermore, the accident triggered something catastrophic in his body outside of the initial injuries and the doctors' have yet to discover exactly what's wrong with him. In an effort to further inform you on all that's happened medically over the past 2 years we have made some bullet points for you to observe:
DIAGNOSED WITH:
- Torn Medial Meniscus
- Cervical Damage
- 2.5 cm Liver Laceration
- Chronic Whiplash (Now life-long issue because Dr.’s didn’t treat in time)
- Lateral Epicondylitis
- Cubital Tunnel Syndrome
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Pleurisy
- Costochondritis
- Granulomatous
- Pneumonia
TREATMENTS/REFERRALS DENIED BY WORKERS COMP:
- ID Doctor (and their recommended treatments)
- Rheumatologist (and their recommended treatments)
- Injections to both knees and both hands
- Surgery on his elbows
- Biopsies
- Intense physical therapy for his chronic whiplash
ACTUAL TREATMENTS RECEIVED:
- Anti-biotics (pill form)
- Steroids (pill form)
- Minimal physical therapy sessions
- Acupuncture
- 1 Injection in one hand
He needed effective medical attention long ago and now he needs serious medical attention from serious doctors. Most people aren't aware of how fundamentally flawed the worker's comp system is unless they've experienced it themselves; we certainly weren’t. We all pay into worker's comp with each paycheck and it's a shame that someone like our Pops now has life-long issues because of the poor handling of his case.
