Simon and Sylvia fundraising for MND Association

So what's the problem?

Motor Neurone Disease (MND)… A devastating group of diseases that gradually rob individuals of the ability to eat, talk, co-ordinate, move their muscles and eventually, breathe (more info here ).

It affects 5,000 people in the UK at any one time, killing 6 of those people every day, having progressively robbed those lives in the preceding year(s).... 6 people are diagnosed everyday…

...And yet we know as little about even the cause as we did in the 80s. Given the life-changing and life-saving advances made in Cancer, AIDS, Parkinson’s and other devastating diseases in that time, we think it’s about time this changed for MND.

What are we asking for?

Any amount of donation that feels comfortable for you to give. All money will go to the MND Association, an incredible organisation which is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland focused on improving access to care, vital research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND.

The MNDA does this through over 7,000 volunteers and only 140 paid staff.

Why now and why am I asking?

In February 2018 my Mum received one of the cruelest pieces of news possible, when she learnt that she has Motor Neurone Disease.

Already Mum has raised thousands of £s for the MND Association, and others at the local David Lloyd club (where she's adored by all as a good friend who has also improved the lives of so many people!) have hiked Kilimanjaro, run the ultra desert Marathon des Sables and a raffle at the annual Wimbledon ballot night.

Anyone who knows my Mum Sylvia, knows she's a genuinely incredible and rare person, mum, tennis player (beaten me enough..!) and friend. Both in and out of social work she's directly and indirectly impacted thousands of people's lives across the World... And now I'm asking you to sponsor me to ensure we can support and change the lives of many more.

So, Simon, what are you going to do to be worth donating for?

- 11 - 12 May, 2019: The Three Peaks Challenge of the highest peaks in each of England, Scotland and Wales, in one go

- 25 - 26 May, 2019: London to Brighton Ultrachallenge - a 100 Km day/night/day continuous walk from London to Brighton (where Mum got up to much mischief as a Sussex teenager!)

NB. IF I raise over £1,000, then I will jump in the sea at Brighton (currently 10 Degrees C!). Video evidence to be provided…

What can you do?

Donate below or to me with cash or online transfer - anything you can is great (even some flapjacks for the walks!). I have chosen Gofundme as they have the lowest fees of any donation platform that the MNDA is registered with - more of your money, going exactly where it's needed!

Please help to get the World on the journey to beginning to understand, and eventually cure, this ******* disease :D

Thank you!!!
