Please help my cousin out during this time!
Update from Ashley 4/24: Hi everyone. I’m not even sure where to begin... Tyler had hernia surgery in July of 2017. Ever since, we have been living in a constant nightmare. What was supposed to be a routine surgery & recovery has become anything but... routine. The doctors and specialists have told us that the hernia surgery has caused a domino effect of complications for Tyler. In November of 2017, Tyler went into liver failure. Jaundice, excessive weight gain & bleeding ulcers were just the beginning of his many symptoms which left him weak and unable to work. In March of 2018, a liver specialist at Wash U discovered that his hemoglobin was critically low. Since then, he has constantly been in & out of the hospital for numerous blood transfusions which left him even more weak. On April 9th, while receiving yet another blood transfusion... a bacteria infection was found in his blood stream. He was immediately transferred from Red Bud Regional to Barnes. Since being at Barnes, cultures for the bacteria are coming back negative however high ammonia levels have him pretty confused. Wednesday his kidney levels went in the wrong direction and keep rising. This past Friday, he started dialysis which as of now he will continue until he is able to receive a liver transplant. Tyler is a very private person, hence why this is the first time many of you are hearing about this. But, truth be told... I am desperate. Our families, Tyler, and especially the girls could use all the prayers in the world right now. Tyler is not only the sole provider for our family, he is also our rock. He is the very best daddy to Olivia, Alaina and Adeline & my very best friend. Our lives have been turned upside down and our girls are hurting tremendously. I am trying to find the strength to be the mama I know I need to be for the girls as well as the support system I know I have to be to Tyler. All we want is for his body to heal so that he can come home to us & we can start getting back to some normalcy. These past few months have taught me to never take your health for granted, to pay attention to those who still stick around in your darkest hours, and to fight. To fight for those who your hearts beat for. Tyler, I will never stop pleading with God for your health, I will never leave your side, and I will never ever ever stop fighting for you. Because you... the most amazing father to our girls, the love of my life... you are who my heart beats for.
