Hi my name is Angela. I'm raising money for the Caminero Family (Izzy Sr, Sandee, Izzy, Elias, and Rosie).
Their 15 year old Izzy has come home on hospice after a 10 year battle with cancer. His journey has been an inspiration to all of those around him. His strength and perseverance as well as his strong faith and unwillingness to let his diagnosis define him is a testament to us all. Izzy's family knows how these fundraisers can feel like an obligation and request that only those who feel moved to give participate. They were hesitant to "ask for help" as they believe that God will provide. A group of nurses who worked with Izzy's mother, Sandee, are really the ones asking for help as we feel that God has called us to aid them.
We want to give the only gift that matters right now, and that is TIME. Izzy and his family don't know how much time they have left together and any money donated will be used to make sure that Izzy's parents don't have to work to pay the bills and keep food on the table. All donations will be used to allow them the time to enjoy each other in the time that Izzy still has here with his family.
Izzy's journey has been long: beginning at the age of 5 with a lower leg amputation for his initial cancer, followed by partial lung removal, a brain surgery to remove a mass, as well as many other surgeries, and rounds and rounds of chemo and radiation. Through it all Izzy, and his family, have remained positive. This is something that Izzy wrote that I want to share. It shows his true spirit: he is wise well beyond his years.
"'Life isn't Fair', some of you might hear it all the time. Others not so much. If you do hear it, and you ask me what I think about that I would tell that I firmly believe it, and I think it should stay that way.
When you look at me, you can clearly see that life has not been fair to me. And to be plainly honest, all the unfairness has made me who I am. Life is almost like the hands of a skulpter. The more you endure, the more you will be shaped into who you are. If life was always fair, we would all be the same people doing the same things. As we learned yesterday, God made all things with variety. If we were all the same, we would be defying the purpose that he made us for. THE END." -Izzy
If you have nothing to give monetarily or do not feel moved to give in this way please take the time to pray for Izzy and his family. Prayers for pain relief for Izzy, strength and love for him and his family, and quality time to enjoy each other.
Thank you.
