Time to help a friend in need -- Steve Barton

Hey all -- Sue Procko here. I've had the honor of knowing Steve Barton, aka Uncle Creepy, for over two decades. I've found him to be one of the most giving, loving, kind, fun, no nonsense kind of people ever and to boot, in entertainment.

He recently moved from the West Coast to the East Coast and to say it has been a nightmare of epic proportions would be an understatement. He was completey and utterly conned by a moving company who hired out the work to a third party. They charged him DOUBLE what he was originally quoted for 20 boxes maximum, demanded more money at the end of the move which drained his entire bank account and THEN delivered most of his items broken. Some of his items weren't even delivered and to top it off, he was given someone else's things and they told him they don't care. The insurance is giving him a hard time too and those of us in entertainment know how hard it can be to put a value on the things we collect as part of our job.

As many of us are in this business, the last thing we want to do is ask others for help and he certainly doesn't want to do so. In fact, I found out about the tragedy as he's trying to find the owners of the items he was given that weren't his. He has asked all his friends and following to help share the information to find the right owners and we will.

BUT...it's time to help Steve. There are hundreds of us that HE supported either through caring about our indie films, writing about them, reviewing them, hosting panels for us for free when we had no budget, calling to check in with us if we were having a hard time, attending an event to support our filmmakers, cheering us on as we tried our best to get our small films noticed...I could go on and on.

Steve needs to be made whole...imagine having all your valuables, or at least the ones that were delivered to you (weeks late, by the way), decimated. There's nothing left. And what is left, he may have to sell to get right sized again. This is so wrong.

I begged him to let me start this GoFundMe for him.

I ask that you help in any way that you can. $1, $5, $10 or more...

If you want more information, you can check out his posting on his platforms. In fact, if you do, please share the pictures of the items that weren't his so he can return them to their rightful owner. I know that will make him feel a little better.

He doesn't want more than what he's put out for this move so I believe that's doable. It's $5,000.

Let's help our friend Steve. And share the photos below to see if someone claims it as theirs!
