'Time to chip in for the Sharp's'
I am not sure if you are aware as Sharpy (Glenn Sharp) and the family rarely share anything personal. He and the family never ask for help, even when a situation like this occurs.
As one of the Sharp's many friends I share with you the family's current situation and ask for your help and support.
Tania Sharp, Glenn's better half has been diagnosed with a rare blood cancer Myleofibrosis which affects the red blood cells in the bone marrow. It was found that Tania has stage 3 of this condition the most advanced stage and requires and urgent stem cell transplant...
It is imperative Tania has this transplant straight away. This will happen on the 19th July at the Royal Melbourne and Peter McCallum Hospitals. The process lasts for 100 days which includes 30 days in hospital and 70 days living near the hospital in accommodation with Glenn as Tania's primary carer.
I write this without even speaking to Glenn or Tania, but in consultation with their daughter Brunswick as I know this is something that will be a huge financial burden for the family. The cost of treatment alone is above and beyond what anyone should have to pay. For example the accommodation will be upward of $11,000 alone without any medical bills. Glenn will be without income during this time and Brunswick will be staying with family and friends as she continues with her year 12 studies.
My plan is to run a couple of fundraiser Basketball Camps right here in Geelong and I hope the community will support these with all funds raised being placed into this account.
We ask you too consider even just a small amount, as we are sure Sharpy (or even someone like Sharpy) has helped you along the way. The family has been amazing to me and we could not ask for greater friends - ours hearts are all with you Tania, Glenn and Brunswick as you embark on this fight...
