Tayla is a very sweet and sensitive 5th grade student who has been part of the Sierra Linda School family since kindergarten. Unfortunately she has had a very difficult two years and needs our help now. For the past couple of years, Tayla's mother had been in and out of the hospital due to a debilitating illness and as a result Tayla had been living with various other care providers. On Tuesday, May 19th our staff was informed that Tayla's mom passed away, so her mother's relatives stepped in to provide a home in her mother's absence.
Upon receipt of the saddening news, Sierra Linda staff reached out to the family, and the Tayla's aunt shared with us that they love having her with them, however, the financial responsibilities are mounting and they could really use some assistance. In addition to the high costs incurred to provide the necessary funeral services for Tayla's mom, there is the added cost of obtaining legal custody as well as the long term living expenses such as food and clothing to take into consideration. Her caregivers are also thinking ahead and hope to make college a reality -- something that Tayla deserves but that they themselves may not be able to provide.
Ultimately, it is the wish of her family, friends and school support staff that this fundraiser provide Tayla with the financial support she will require in order to thrive and reach her immediate needs and future dreams, hopes and wishes while alleviating some of the financial responsibilities her family is currently facing in the wake of her mother's passing.
