Help Timothy Fight Discrimination

Donativo protegido
Hello All,

My name is Timothy. I'm from Melbourne Australia. In October of 2016, I was the subject to extreme discrimination, abuse and hate speech for a senior manager. When I put the complaint into my CEO nothing was done about it and I was left to no help, support or protection. 8 months after the discrimination the company dismissed me. I want to let you know what happened.

A senior manager of the company was talking to a fellow staff member and talking quiet loudly. I was at my desk and could hear what he was saying. He was voicing his opinions on gay men. He stated he is 'against faggots' and he stated that 'they are humans that don't deserve to be alive'. He also stated that 'poo pushers are fucking disgusting' and that 'he doesn't like to associate with gays because he does not think it is normal'.

When I reported this and said I feared for my safety nothing was done. I went to work on a daily basis fearing that he was going to do something. The company allowed the abuse to continue for 8 months failing to see the affects.

I have been diagnosed with PTSD and have severe anxiety attacks that come out of nowhere. I have a constant stress of not feeling safe or protected after what happened to me and the failure to protect me after these actions of another staff member. I have lost the zest for life, before all of this I was a bright, fun and friendly guy. Now I have to put on a smile when on the inside I am slowly fading away to nothing.

Now I am deep into therapy and seeing my doctor to try and move on with my life. I’m in serious financial debt and not being able to work due to the PTSD I am going through.

The company acknowledges this happened but are taking no responsibility with what they have caused.

I am trying change how these matters are dealt with in Australia as discrimination is not treated as it should be and victims do not get to ask for punitive damages and are not taken seriously and the mental issues that are caused do not get looked at when in a court case. The mental and psychological issues go on for years and take a lot of therapy to get over. Discrimination is a form of abuse and needs to be treated as such.

I want the laws changed here and I am trying to get my story on the news to bring light to these issues.

I ask for any donations to help me out through this extremely hard time in my life.

It has come at a major shock that homophobic men are still protect in work places and the victim is made to be the bad person.

I hope you can help. I will be forever grateful. Let’s hope I can change the ways of Australian and the damage these issues can do to people. I have to cover all my own legal fees.
