TIM ADE’S “ROAD TO RECOVERY”

On August 25, 2019, Tim & Jenn Ade along with their son, Tyler Thomas, celebrated their 1st Wedding Anniversary.

Three days later, on August 28, Tim was seen in Atlanticare’s Emergency Room in Atlantic City, NJ for a severe headache and was admitted for observation.  Within days, Tim went from being a healthy 42 year old man to fighting a seizure, a 105.8 degree fever, brain swelling and fluid in his brain.  A drain was placed in Tim’s brain to drain the fluid and then he was intubated.  He was treated with a temperature management system to control his temperature and then he needed a feeding tube.  Due to a sudden drop in his heart rate, Tim was given medication to increase his heart rate.  Antibiotics, anti-fungal and other medications were given to Tim to treat him for a number of possible bacterial, viral and fungal infections.  Testing consisted of blood tests, CT Scans, MRIs, EEGs, Chest X-rays and a Lumbar Puncture in order for doctors to properly diagnose why Tim’s health was deteriorating so rapidly.

According to the test results from the CDC, Tim tested positive for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.  This is a bacterial disease that is spread through the bite of an infected tick.  A tick was found on his back along with a reddish rash on August 29.  If not treated early, it can be deadly.

More test returned negative results but on September 11, another test result from the CDC came back positive for the Eastern Equine Encephalitis Virus.  The New Jersey Health Department confirmed that, although his name was not mentioned, Tim’s case was the first human case of EEE in Atlantic County, NJ.

On September 20, Atlantic County residents woke up to the following article in the Press Atlantic City,

After spending fifteen days in Atlanticare’s ICU in Atlantic City, Tim was transferred to Acuity Specialty Hospital of New Jersey in Atlantic City, NJ for another fifteen days.
On September 27, Tim was admitted to MossRehab’s Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Program in Pennsylvania where he will receive Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy Treatments.

Tim's estimated discharge date from rehab is November 26,2019

The goal of this account is to reduce the financial worry of Jenn’s traveling expenses so that she can continue to be by Tim’s side every step through his rehabilitation at Moss.
All donations, prayers and support are deeply appreciated.
