Tim Wood's Fight Against Cancer

~Another Fight Against Cancer Begins Now~ Tim's cancer has returned and he needs the support and prayers of his family, friends, coworkers, and community to join him in this journey.

So many people have asked what they can do. Your donations are appreciated and will be used to pay for ongoing medical expenses and other items to support the Wood family.

Tim was originally diagnosed in 2014 with stage 3 rectal cancer. He received 2 rounds of chemo and 28 radiation treatments. He also under went major pelvic surgery resulting in a permanent colostomy.

In July 2020, Tim began having concerning medical issues which led to multiple test and procedures in the fall of 2020. In December 2020, he had increased hip/leg pain which can be described as “Sciatic Pain”. He underwent various treatments but ultimately had Lumbar Lami L4-5, S1 on May 3rd, 2021. On July 5th, 2021, Tim went to the ER for what was thought to be an abdominal obstruction. What we discovered was a mass in his pelvis.

We immediately contacted Tim's oncologist and got the ball rolling on more testing. The biopsy confirmed stage 4 metastatic adenocarcinoma. The PET Scan revealed that the mass is in his right sacrum and has spread to nodules in his left pelvis. We are grateful the spread is localized in the pelvis. We consulted a surgeon and the tumor is currently inoperable due to its location in sacrum. It has found its way around the sacral nerve bundle. This explains the sciatic pain, muscle waste, and numbness Tim has been having in his right leg as well as some other medical issues he's been chasing this past year.

Tim is scheduled to start chemotherapy on August 9th and are anxiously awaiting consultation and praying insurance approves for Proton Therapy.

We are asking friends and family who wish visit be vaccinated and wear a mask while Tim is undergoing chemotherapy, immune therapy and radiation treatments. ( This is not a political debate, this is how we are choosing to handle this for our family).

The First Fight:

In June 2014, Tim was diagnosed with stage III rectal cancer. This means the cancer is not only in the rectum, but in nearby lymph nodes. Initially the cancer was viewable during a colonoscopy. Biopsies confirmed the diagnosis. Additional imaging showed the cancer to be in the lymph nodes. Tim began chemo and radiation. The chemo is medicine that attacks the cancerous cells while the radiation uses high energy particles or waves to directly destroy cancerous cells.

Tim completed 6 weeks of chemo and radiation. The treatments continue to attack the cancerous area even once completed. Surgery was performed to remove the cancer which resulted in a permanent colostomy bag.

Cancer sucks but we can all help during this hard time for Tim, Casey, and their girls. Cancer is hard physically and emotionally, as well as financially. Please pray, send positive messages, and donate. Please share this page!
