Tim White's Recovery & Rehabilitation
I cannot express the urgency of getting help to Tim, every day that goes by matters.
On July 3, 2021, my good friend Tim White suffered a sudden stroke at only 42 years old. The purpose of this fundraiser is to give Tim the absolute best chance for recovery. As one would expect, along with the devastating toll of his recent stroke, he is facing exponentially growing costs of medical care. This includes a lengthy hospital stay, doctors, medication, and most important at this point, ongoing rehabilitation and treatment. He has a long and difficult journey ahead. From the onset he has pushed himself with amazing fortitude and hard work each and every day. He deserves every opportunity to once again live a full and "normal" life.
Tim White suffered a stroke just after arriving at Lake Harding for the 4th of July weekend. Fortunately, we were able to get medical attention quickly. His life was likely saved thanks to the speed and skill of the EMT's that responded. He was rushed to Midtown Medical where he was placed in Neuro ICU. The team there was able to get him stabilized over the next few days. From there he was transferred to Northside Hospital for further care and extensive rehabilitation through physical therapy. There, he was getting a minimum of 3 hours a day of therapy . HE is in URGENT need of continued medical care and physical therapy. The time spent at Northside did wonders for Tim. He regained limited use of his lower body allowing him to walk again. After reaching that milestone he was progressing very well learning all the basic day to day tasks we all take for granted. Unfortunately the medical care and intensive rehab he was receiving only lasted approx. 7 days after his time in ICU due to financial constraints. Tim does not have any insurance. Government assistance, once offered, will be minimal at best.
His hospital stay alone, well exceeds the fundraising "goal" we've set. Donations will be used for medical care already received, continued daily physical therapy, medications and doctor visits. Tim is in need of durable medical supplies such as braces to help him walk. He and his family also face the tremendous expenses associated with his care.
Heidi White, his sister and primary caregiver, will be moving with Tim to a new apartment in only 2 weeks. His new home needs to be equipped with a proper bed and equipment to aid in his rehabilitation and provide a safe living environment. Heidi will be away at work during the day and Tim will not have home health care. I addition to the cost of treatment and housing, Tim will also use these funds for transportation to and from therapy and doctor's appointments during the day while his sister and family are working.
Obviously Tim will be unable to work for the foreseeable future. He has applied for disability however that will not cover even the most basic living expenses given his condition. The process can also take 6 months or more before getting approval.
In order for our friend Tim White to continue to receive the medical care he needs, I am kindly asking all to give a helping hand to Tim and his family. We all hope and pray for a full recovery and greatly appreciate any donation large or small to help him on this journey.
