Hi,
My name is Nathan and I am trying to raise funds for Tim Hughes & Richard Fauvel.
On Saturday 21st May I along with my friends from Porthcawl Triathlon Club travelled down from Bridgend to ride two loops of the back end of the Ironman Wales course.
During the first loop of the ride, we were heading down from The Little Kings campsite towards Wisemans Bridge and Tim & Richard were involved in an accident. On a downhill, sharp, blind corner, Tim collided with a tractor and Richard got caught up in the accident.
Immediately it was clear that both sustained severe injuries. The emergency services were called, and both boys were taken to hospital.
Tim suffered some serious injuries including damage to his T10 & C4 vertebrae in his back, a bleed to the brain, an open fracture to his right arm, broken ribs, a broken thumb and a nasty wound to his forehead. Richard suffered an open fracture to his right arm and facial injuries.
Richard has had a metal plate put in his arm. Tim has had a wire placed in his right elbow and a plate put alongside his left wrist and thumb. He will be in a back brace for a few months.
Both face a long road to recovery and they have put their Ironman Wales dreams on hold. We hope to raise some funds to aid their recovery and support them in the best way possible. We do not know how long either will need to take off work and how they will manage to pay their bills, support their familys and be financially stable during their recovery.
If possible, we would also love to help the boys repair and replace some of their items that were broken and damaged during the accident.
Tim & Richard are both giant characters and we will support them in any way we can. If you can help, we would really appreciate it.
