Tim Radcliff's Emergency Medical Fund

Donation protected

Friends, family and wider community, we reach out today with an urgent call for help.

Tim Radcliff, an otherwise completely healthy and active member of the community, loving husband to Jennifer Radcliff, and doting father to Madison (1-year-old) and Luke (9-years-old), is in desperate need of support as he is in the hospital fighting for his life - the result of a sudden and ongoing battle with pneumonia and lung infection.

After several visits to the doctor did not improve his illness, Tim was admitted to the Mayo Clinic on May 24, 2021, where his wife Jennifer works as a Cardiovascular Tech, to be treated for streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria. Once admitted, Tim was placed on a ventilator and put on a rigorous course of antibiotics to fight the infection in his lungs and body. After 9 days on the ventilator, his lungs and the infection had worsened, and on Thursday, June 3rd, the doctors put in a tracheostomy and put Tim on ECMO. After that, he majorly desaturated and is now back to relying on the vent 100%.

Now, Tim's lungs are both infected and there are spots of necrosis (dead) in some areas. Doctors have let Jennifer know Tim could be on ECMO for weeks or months while they try to fight off the infection and give his lungs a chance to heal. At this point, Tim is relying on the vent and trach 100% for oxygen, and it has become clear that he has a long road of continued hospitalization and recovery ahead of him.

Tim is a small business owner, and he does not have access to FMLA or short/long term disability. This means that their household is down to a single income, and Jennifer must support the family's bills, childcare, and basic needs on her income alone, while caring for their two small children and caring for Tim in the hospital.

In addition to these basic needs, this week, the transplant team has let Jennifer know that Tim may need a single or double lung transplant. It is too early to make that call right now, but they want the family to have a chance to prepare. The transplant team let Jennifer know that in order for Tim to be eligible for a lung transplant, she will need to:

>>> Be able to show liquid funds in the bank to cover transplant costs
>>> Have a caregiver for Tim 24 hours/day, 7 days/week for 3-4 months after his surgery
>>> Have a backup caregiver in place who can cover for the primary caregiver at any moment

If Jennifer is not able to commit to the items above, Tim will not be eligible for the transplant. So, in addition to meeting the family's basic needs while Tim is hospitalized, if he ends up needing a transplant, Jennifer will need to take an unpaid leave of absence from her job in order to act as Tim's primary caregiver.

While insurance will cover a portion of Tim's medical bills, it does not cover everything. Additionally, Jennifer will need to support their family while Tim (and potentially both parents) are out of work due to his hospitalization.

We are uniting to support and equip Jennifer and Tim as they move into this challenging and unexpected season. We invite you to join us in bringing recovery and a way forward to this beautiful family.

Our campaign goal is $100,000. Funds will be contributed to the following:

>>> Mortgage, utilities and other bills to support the family
>>> Additional physical therapy, medications, and health care costs post-surgery
>>> If Tim needs a lung transplant, finances in the bank to cover Tim's lung transplant costs

If you know Tim, you know he brings joy and laughter wherever he goes. The Radcliff family are active and long-time members of their church, and through her work at the Mayo Clinic, Jennifer has given back and touched so many lives. They are the first to pray for and support others who are in need, and now they need our help as Tim continues to fight for his life.

Thank you for reading Tim’s story.
We appreciate any help or contribution, no matter how big or small! If possible, please share our campaign link on social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) and with your friends. We will keep you posted on the use of funds and Tim’s progress going forward.
