Dear classmates,
Our long-time friend Timothy Harmon/class of 82 has recently come across some very difficult times.
Tim spent the first 30 years of his career after graduating from Howard University in Washington DC ('86) (believed to be the first Episcopal graduate to attend Howard as an undergrad) working in local and national television news as well as sports production. He spent 15 years at ESPN as a segment and show producer as well as working in documentary production. After ESPN, Tim also produced documentaries for the Big Ten Network.
Tim relocated to the DC / Baltimore region in 2014 working in auto sales for Honda as well as helping second-chance credit customers secure auto financing. In May of 2022 shortly after our 40th reunion, Tim started experiencing serious complications from his diabetes which he has been living with for the past 30 years. In addition to losing most of his vision in his only good eye, there were also complications with the health of his kidneys. These issues forced Tim to the sideline, unable to drive or work regularly and he was ultimately let go by new management at the dealership.
For over the past year, Tim has been fighting with the federal government to secure his social security disability income, a very long and arduous process, particularly in our post-pandemic world. In addition to a lack of income and mounting medical needs, Tim was recently evicted from his Maryland apartment.
While Tim awaits the final decision on his disability claim, a four-to-six-month process that has taken well over a year, we are humbly and graciously asking for any help that you can offer to help our friend and classmate resurrect himself, avoid a time-consuming relocation and continue to surround himself with the care and treatment of his doctors in Maryland.
Thank you in advance for whatever you can do.
