Please read Tai Hanson's story about her beloved father, Tim Hanson. Hopefully, you can join us with making their lives a little easier during this difficult time.
Last week, we lost our Father to an evil and devastating act of violence. Life will never be the same without him. He was everything to his children and family.
For the first few days, our Father was an “unknown male”. If you know him, you understand just how not anonymous he was. He was flashy and loved to dress and entertain. That is the memory we will always uphold as we celebrate his life.
We will be having 3 celebrations for him in the 3 cities he called home. The places where he was a beloved community icon. The 3 places where he created the extended family that loved him dearly. The places where he helped mentor and coach our friends. We have those celebrations covered thanks to our loved ones in each city. You see, my Dad was a child of adoption and foster homes and always made you feel like family. He vowed to be the rock for his family since he never truly had that.
But with the painful road ahead, it’s everything that comes after we celebrate his life that will be the biggest hurdle for his family and children, specifically.
This was the first year we were all getting to a point where we could plan family trips together. And now we’ll be needing to travel back and forth for an entirely different reason. We now need to drive and fly to court dates, check on and take care of Dad's home that he was so proud of and vowed to pass on to us, save up for legal fees and everything else that will come our way over the next few months, or years as we fight for the justice our Father so deserves.
A lot of folks have asked us what they can do to help, and to be honest, we’re not sure. There is a bit of a fog over all of us right now. We are confused, angry, and sad, all while trying to uplift and celebrate our father. The unthinkable has hit home.
To make sure we are fully supported through this tragic and traumatic time, anything you can do to help make sure our “normal” is not completely shattered will be more than appreciated. We're asking for help because we may need to miss work, hire care for our children, research counseling for our families, and help with any other variables that will come down the line.
We love you and thank you for anything you can do. -Tai
