last year my uncle Tim suffered from a stroke. It has left him disabled and unable to work for moment. We’re reaching out to our friends and family for some help.

Here is the story in his words.

 

On November 2, 2021, I had a Left Medullary Brain Stem stroke. My Neurologist estimates that recovery from this stroke could take up to a year. This is why I am reaching out for help. This Go Fund Me will allow me to survive during that recovery period, after which it is my hope and plan to return to work.

 

I worked for NYS Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities Service Organization as an Adaptive Equipment Specialist. During the pandemic my job consisted of going into infected houses from March 2020 to March 2021 repairing all the medical equipment for the individuals with disabilities.

 

On Feb 18, 2021 I received the Moderna shot. Unfortunately, on March 1st I tested positive for Covid-19.

 

I was Quarantined for 14 days. Returning to work March 15th. For the life of me I could hardly get through an 8 hour day of work.

 

Post Covid, headaches, confusion, fatigue and shortness of breath. I toughed it out and used most all of my Vacation, Personal and Sick time to complete my day.

 

After a month my Dr. took me out of work on April 23. We both hoped the symptoms would get better. Unfortunately that lasted until end of May, I was eligible for my Second Moderna shot. After receiving the second shot, I became very sick for week or so. All the post covid symptoms increased as well. There were days I could partly function for few hours. Most days, especially if I over did it the day before I was wiped out for days at a time. This lasted through the summer of 2021.

 

I applied for NYS workers compensation but they denied my claim. I hired a lawyer to fight the denial and recently after many hearings and arguments, it was denied. Their argument was that I did not get covid at work.

 

Shortly thereafter I suffered the Brain Stem stroke on November 2,2021.

 

This event has been directly contributed to the high Blood Pressure and clotting effects of Covid-19.

 

I have been at zero pay and zero benefits from NYS since June 26, 2021.

 

I’m currently in rehab from the stroke and the Head Neurologist at Strong Hospital said 6-12 months for recovery.

 

I need help until I can return to the job I love to do!!!
