Our loved one Tim Schatz has been diagnosed with a rare form of stomach cancer, Linitus Plastica. He is just beginning his fight with this cancerous invader. Tim weighed a whopping 111 lbs when this journey began three months ago. He has already lost more than 33 lbs because his stomach rejects everything he puts in it. Including water. Can you imagine . . . not being able to swallow your favorite burger? Or even drink a full glass of water?
On Sept 3rd, Tim finally got a feeding tube inserted into his stomach. All nutrition and most fluids now go directly into Tim’s intestines, bypassing the stomach. While this is not ideal, it’s nutrition. Tim's working to increase his weight and regain strength to start chemotherapy treatments that will reduce the hard cancerous mass that is his stomach. He will begin chemo in late September. Treatments will extend over the next three months.
Tim would love to hear from each of his friends and loved ones. Please send him strength, hope, and love to successfully get through the chemotherapy treatments. Funds will be used to cover liquid nutrition, assorted medications, small comforts for Tim and Tina, and any and all supplies that carry him through this very rough patch.
