Tim Aylward is a great man! He has been my best friend since 4. We have created music and travelled together, shared many amazing experiences (including standing in each other’s weddings) and he is the kind of person that has always been there when I needed him! He is as close to a brother as I could ever get without being related by blood!
Tim has had many great experiences in his 37 years including playing in a band with some of his best friends, Managing his own sign shop, moving to Toronto and working in the bar industry, and ruling the pool table; winning many pool tournaments all over Canada and the U.S. In early 2018 Tim completed one of his greatest achievements, graduating from the Architectural Technician Program and George Brown College with honours.
On November 10th, 2018 Tim hit another milestone in his life when he Married the love of his love, Phoebe Damboeck. Phoebe had stood by Tim's side, living together for 11 years while they both completed their post-secondary educational endeavors, and it was clear that their love was strong enough to withstand all of life’s challenges.
Sometime thereafter in 2019, Tim (Very Excitedly) disclosed to me that he was about to hit another landmark stage of his life, as he and his new bride were expecting their first child! I could tell that he was nervous but very excited to be a dad, and I couldn't have been happier for them both! Tim and Phoebe had also just bought a house in Elliot Lake, right down the road from his Parents. Tim moved up while Phoebe was awaiting a transfer and began renovations on their new home in preparation for their new bundle of joy! Tim was also looking for work in his new field while he completed the renovations.
Unfortunately that's where this story takes a devastating turn. On July 19, 2019 while lying in bed and having just moved to Elliot Lake, Tim felt a lump in his right side. He went to get it checked out in Elliot Lake and was told that a mass had been detected on the X-Ray and he would have to get some additional tests. Tim drove immediately to Toronto where he met Phoebe and received a CT Scan. Phoebe was 7 months pregnant at the time.
Following the CT Scan, Phoebe and Tim received the worst news that they could have received. Tim was diagnosed with Cancer.
The coming months saw Tim undergo several tests, biopsies and meetings with doctors in Toronto while staying with Phoebe and his in-laws.
September 14, 2019 was a day that would change Phoebe and Tim’s life forever! Phoebe gave birth to their beautiful baby Girl, Ashlyn Aylward. Unfortunately, the very next week, Tim would start Chemo Therapy treatment.
After Several months of various types of Chemo Therapy Treatment, Tim learned that his Cancer was progressing, and he was told that his Cancer was in Stage 4 (Meaning it had spread throughout his body).
After several different attempts to get his cancer under control, High doses of Chemo Therapy drugs left Tim with Neuropathy (Dead Nerve Endings) in his hands and feet effectively limiting his ability to use his hands or to walk.
Tim is currently undertaking his 4th and final Chemo Therapy treatment in an attempt to slow the progression of his cancer.
Tim has not been able to work for the last 2 years as a result of his deteriorating condition, and he now requires an assisted mobility device to be able to get out of the house. Alterations to he and Phoebes house are also required in order make the house accessible for a wheel-chair. Medical expenses continue to mount, and there has been a significant financial strain placed on their family.
I am asking for you help, to ensure that Tim and Phoebe can continue to provide Tim the care he needs, and continue to pay all the bills and cover medical expenses. Anything that you could donate would be very much appreciated by the Aylward’s.
God Speed and thank you for taking the time to read this. Please keep the Aylward’s in your thoughts and prayers.
