Tim & Alana 2022 Flood Recovery
Donation protected
My name is Dewi Chai, I'm from Terania Creek in Northern NSW, and I'm raising funds to help my friends Tim and Alana Sheridan get back on their feet after the devastating floods of Feb 2022. As you can see, their house down near Woodburn was completely inundated by floodwater. After helping several neighbours to safety, they put out a call to emergency services and waited on a neaby roof through the night, listening to their distressed cattle screaming and watching them float away. They were eventually saved by a small flotilla of tinnies organised by Tim's brother and some soccer mates the next morning.
I saw the devastation when the waters receded. Dead cattle and horses suspended in poinsiana trees are so 2022.
Tim and Alana don't think they're "worthy" of a fund page but if you have been itching to help someone affected by floods, these people are truly deserving. They have lost the contents of their home, some cattle, farm and fencing gear and their vehicles, but their generosity of spirit saw that still, when they had nothing and we were still trapped and without power, they somehow crossed landslips and a swollen river to get a generator to us.
They're staying with us now, but there are still many hurdles to face. Their childrens' school has been essentially condemned because of flooding and they're in the process of applying for new schools. They are unsure when they will be able to work on the farm again so their income is on hold, and who knows when they will have a home to call their own.
Lots of people have asked how they can help - THIS IS HOW. Funds raised will be used to cover what their very modest insurance payout won't stretch to, and any interim costs such as fuel, food, new clothes and fencing repairs to contain their surviing cattle. Thank you for your support.
