About three weeks ago, Rikki Tikki started to experience vomiting, lethargy and decreased eating. The symptoms ebbed and flowed until they ultimately became unsafe this past weekend. He had refused food in four days (totally unlike him), becoming quite weak and delirious.
Two emergency vet visits and $800 (check ups, X-rays, fecal tests, blood work, anti nausea shots, b-12 fluids, appetite stimulants etc) later, we are still unsure as to what is going on. The x-rays showed potential intestine obstruction and scrunching, but it was too small to tell. We are waiting on the bloodwork, but if that comes back normal and his health is still declining, we will have to go to a radiologist and get an ultrasound.
While I can completely manage on my own (#That’sWhatCreditCardsAreForRight?), if you have a little extra cash right now (don’t we all?!) and want to help out, I would appreciate it greatly*. Seriously though no pressure to contribute. Ever.
* insert sob story about a girl who works in nonprofit/education and lives in a city too expensive who recently learned that her part-time job was being cut due to accompany re-org.
Again, I am perfectly capable of handling the situation on my own, and I knew what responsibility I was assuming becoming a pet mom. And no matter the cost and stress, I have absolutely no regrets adopting my little Brazilian street rat cat. Ever. ❤️
