Hi and namaste to all!Four months ago, my sister-in-law (my bhauju), Tika Pandey was diagnosed with suprasellar meningioma, an invasive brain tumor. Following a series of incidents involving loss of memory, and deteriorated vision, she visited the doctor once again in late November.
The doctors noticed that the tumor had grown significantly larger – to the point where it was pressing down on her optic nerves, and significantly impairing her vision as well as memory and motor functions. Tika’s oncologist in Nepal has recommended an immediate surgical resection of the tumor because if left unresected and untreated, the tumor may result in significant loss of vision and reduced cognitive/motor functionality, potentially even death.
Unfortunately, Tika and her immediate family have been hit quite hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Her three children, who are the breadwinners of the family, are not financially capable of bearing such costs by themselves as they lost their income and all the progress they have worked so hard to make in the past few years.
The tumor growing in Tika’s brain needs to be surgically removed as soon as possible, but her family is facing dire financial constraints to bear the costs of the surgery and post-surgery ICU care. The hospital has estimated a total of at least USD 10,000-12,000 for the procedure and post-op care, and Tika’s family is unable to provide this urgent medical care to her. So, I set up this fundraiser with the hope that all of you will offer your generous help to support the financial costs of the surgery and post-op care for my sister Tika.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any donations are greatly appreciated, please share the link and spread the word as much as you can!
Thank you again!
Sabitra Pandey
