The Tigray Center for Information and Communications (TCIC) was established in December, 2020 with the aim to coordinate community efforts and initiatives in support of the people of Tigray, currently gallantly defending their autonomy, livelihood, identity and rights against a gang of invading forces on a genocidal mission exacting heinous crimes including massacres and atrocities amounting to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Tigrayans in the diaspora have, since the war started in November 2020, been tirelessly working to bring international attention to the plight of our people, in spite of the perpetrators’ attempt to conduct this genocidal war under the total darkness and communications blackout.
TCIC was set up to facilitate community activities on awareness, and advocacy aimed at ending the war and suffering of our people through diplomatic pressure, political, and economic sanctions. Since opening its offices in Alexandria, VA, TCIC has been fielded by volunteers. Despite the myriad challenges and enormous constraints, The people’s dedication and resilience inspires us everyday. But our volunteer efforts can not be a match to the money oiled global effort of Abiy’s emissaries and their wealthy acolytes. They have mounted an intensive campaign to neutralize our efforts on the diplomatic front.
The coordination and communication efforts are demanding however, and required a round the clock global effort to withstand the challenges. It was obvious to see that our collective volunteer efforts need more structured organization and professional diplomatic efforts and dedicated resources and financing in order to sustain the mission and address gaps yet to be covered. At this stage, TCIC needs funding resources to finance mission related activities and have full-time staff to oversee and coordinate both professional diplomacy and office activities of the different projects ahead.
