When people ask me what I loved most about attending Maria Regina, my reply is simple: the sisterhood.
I'm reaching out to that sisterhood today to embrace one of our own, a current MRHS Junior. Here's why...
On January 10th, a great man in Hartsdale passed away after a short, but fierce battle with leukemia. He was the embodiment of service to others. He was a good neighbor. He showed up when you needed him. He stayed until the problem (or you) was fixed. Peter Woods was a former NYPD Sergeant, a 9/11 First Responder, Hartsdale Fire Commissioner, founding member of POPPA (an organization dedicated to suicide prevention of NYC Police Officers), and the co-chair of the Westchester County 9/11 Related Illnesses Memorial development committee. The list goes on and on.
But the most important role he played and in which he took the greatest pride was being Sara's husband and Anna and Olivia's father. Peter was a true girl's Dad who could often be found chauffeuring, chaperoning, or cheering his Livi on from the bleachers of MRHS.
His girls are simply heartbroken. As they navigate this deepest grief, it is unfathomable that they should worry about how to pay for Olivia's senior year tuition.
Here's where we come in: let's take this one thing off their plate.
It may seem like a big ask. Times are tough financially for many of us, particularly in this Covid world. But any amount will be a relief. Together we can allow the Woods Family to focus on healing and together we will prove to Olivia that she is a part of the unique and beautiful sisterhood of Maria Regina.
Thank you so much for any help you can give.
