Tiff Pollard is an artist in San Francisco who is battling colon cancer caused by a genetic disorder called Lynch syndrome. She hasn't been well for over a year. On May 19th, 2016 the pain finally became unbearable. She called a friend and they rushed to the ER at Stanford where within a couple hours she was told that she had a large mass in her small intestine. She was quickly admitted to a room and started to prep for a colonoscipy. After prepping for the procedure one of the doctors noticed that she had a perferation in her bowel and would not be able to go through with it. Next she was told she needed to have surgery to remove the mass. They wanted to operate the next day. Tiff told them that she needed time to take care of her dog and other things. She was terrified of being operated on and wanted out of the hospital to clear her head. They scheduled an appointment to prepare for surgery for a week later. About 3 am the day of that appointment she became extremely ill. Violently and continously vomiting with a fever and diarrhea she had Matt, who has been caring for her through this ordeal, drive her to the UCSF ER. She was admitted and had an 8.5 cm. tumor removed that turned out to be cancerous. In less than a month the tumor grew back to 2.5 cm. Tiff is currently undergoing chemotherapy that will last for at least six more months. She has no money to pay bills and is not sure how she will bounce back after her treatment.
She would like to be able to travel the United States in a camper van/ mobile art studio when she feels well. Her vision is to paint birds, people ,places and most of all share her joy of being alive and spread a message of positive energy. To be continued....
