My Story

My name is Tiffany Wright.  I am a 29 year old mother of one-year-old twin girls.  I was born in Hartford Connecticut.  I was only in the 7th grade when I began experiencing unbearable pain in my ligaments; pain that restricted my ability to participate in activities, including sports activities.  By high school, the pain had become chronic and even more unbearable.  Doctors ran numerous tests, but were unsure as to what was causing me so much pain and discomfort.  The best diagnosis they were able to give me was that I was suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.  With that I was prescribed medication and was encouraged by my doctors to continue to try and remain active in spite of the pain.  Unfortunately, for me, the pain persisted and my visits to the rheumatologist became even more frequent. It was not until I was 18-years-old and went off to college at the University of Tampa in Florida, that I was diagnosed with Systematic Lupus.  My freshman year, I struggled with a red butterfly rash on my face, swollen and achy joints, extreme fatigue, chest pains and episodes in which I was passing out unconsciously.  With that, I quickly realized that it was time for me to move back home to Connecticut, so I transferred to Saint Joseph College. Despite my deteriorating health I pushed along, completed my studies and obtained my bachelor’s degree. Throughout this time my liver and lung function began to deteriorate causing me to have frequent hospitalizations.

In spite of my medical condition and prognosis, I was blessed with beautiful twin daughter, Kendall and Kylee who were born to me in September 2014.  My daughters were born premature at 28 weeks and spent their first two months receiving excellent care in the NICU at Hartford Hospital.  Given birth to my daughters have created further health complications for me as well as financial complications as my complex health needs forced me to resign from my job.  However, in spite of that, my daughters have become my reason to live; my reason to fight through all the challenges of my health problems, especially knowing that their father has chosen to become an uninvolved parent.

On the day of my daughters first birthday, I underwent a very rigorous interview process at Mass General Hospital for a lung transplant.  I was denied due to the complex medical conditions associated with my systemic illness.

I am currently undergoing chemotherapy every 2 -3 months to keep my body from attacking itself and maintain the little lung function that I have left.   My condition has left me unable to even hold and care for my daughters at times.  I thank God for the support of my families and close friends who have stepped up with a willingness to lend a hand in the day to day care and nurturing of my daughters.  As I continue to struggle with the financial aspect of my day to day living and keeping up with my bills, I was encouraged by the hospital social worker to start some type of fund raiser, not only for assist me with my day to day living and medical bills, but also, for the future planning of my daughters.  It was the social worker suggestion that I sought to set up this site on go fund me. While my family and friends are able to assist with the day to day care of my daughters, they are not in a position assist financially. It really is just me and my daughter.  I will be eternally grateful for any and all help given to my daughters and I.

Thank you and GOD Bless You,
Tiffany, Kendall & Kylee
