We all know and love Tiffany, I'm a close friend, just like many of us viewing this page. We know she went through something tough, but I wanted to break down the details...
In April 2014, Tiffany was diagnosed with a disease called Acromegaley, caused by a brain tumor located on the pituitary gland. In June she had brain surgery to remove the tumor. The majority of the tumor was removed, but due to the tumor being wrapped around the carotid artory, not all of it could be removed and radiation was needed.
Subsequent surgeries were needed to rectify issues such as enlarged tonsils, adnoids, uvula etc.
After the surgery and radtion, Tiffany's growth hormone levels (IGF-1) were significantly elevated, which resulted in the need for monthly injections of Octreotide.
For three consecutive years Tiffany has immediately met her deductible causing the instant pile up of medical bills. With the burden of unnexpected medical bills, Tiffany's lighthearted spirit has had it's ups and downs and we all have been brainstorming ways in which we can help. The costs this has incurred has been a huge burden and it became clear that this is the most logical way all her friends and family can help and support her. Below is a breakdown of expenses:
Brain Surgery: $60,000
Radiation: $65,000
MRI: 5 MRI's at $5,000 = $25,000
Monthly Octreotide Incurred Injection fees: $18,000
Tonselectomy: $30,000
Fortunately she has insurance, but even with it Tiffany still has substantial medical debt in the amount of $9,500.
These costs and debt were not a choice for Tiff, they were life saving . Let's see what we can do to illiminate these expenses. Give a little, give a lot. If nothing else, Tiffany can begin to make small payments with beginning contributions.
*We called the tumor Timmy, I know that sounds morbid. But if you know Tiff, you know she handles tough situations with humor, positivity and grit.
