Tiff's New Camera For A Photo Rebel

Dearest friends and maybe even some strangers,

I have started this fundraiser with the hope of getting a new camera!

I run my own music photography / review website independently, which does not generate any money (band photography is probably the hardest sect of photography to "make it" in).

Each year, I find myself spending thousands of dollars to do this, in addition to working 2 jobs to pay the bills, and usually having to borrow a car to get to shows since my poor 2003 Malibu is literally falling apart.

I'm certainly not trying to write a sob story, I just realize if there is a "starving artist" point in any career, I've been rolling down that road for a while. I know my camera will give way soon, and buying a new one is far from possible.

I had my first camera for 5 years, and he suddenly quit working when I was at Red Rocks, in front of my favorite band in the world (yikes!). Through talking to many shops and many other photographers, I've found shutters do give out on these types of cameras after about 4-5 years. My camera is now 4, and I've been at many concerts since August when I hold down the shutter button and it freezes up.

I'm not shooting for a fancy camera. Just a newer version of what I've got now (Canon Rebel t6i). In the world of cars, I don't want a Cadillac. A Chevy works great. As far as cameras go, my partner has always been a Rebel.

In the span of the last 4 years I went from being told "you'll never get approved for a show" to photographing Taylor Swift, all on my own. I am finally confident enough to know I'm good at this and that it's still my dream. At the very least, I'm going to keep going, cross my fingers, and hope for the best.

I am humbled to know that I've met so many wonderful people both through photography and through my travels who care a great deal.I appreciate anyone who has taken a moment to read this, and if you are able to donate, it would mean more than I can possibly articulate.

Some of my favorite artists are coming around this summer, and I'm terrified of a Red Rocks moment where my camera stops working, and that's it unless I win the lottery.

I am hoping to get a new camera before my birthday in June... and perhaps even before the end of May (for those pals who know me, a very special artist is coming 'round that time!)
