Beginning in August of 2017, I will be starting a research internship with the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre in the capital of Ghana, Accra, West Africa. The KAIPTC is a world-renowned training facility for individuals and groups across the globe seeking courses in peacekeeping and conflict resolution. Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, is the president of the centre and I will be doing research on women in peace and security with the Women, Peace and Security Institute at KAIPTC.
The research I plan to condust centers around the advantages of having women as an integral part of world peace negotiations. The natural role of women as nurturers and the moral compasses for a community provides a powerful perspective on violence, conflict and the resolution of conflict that is missing in many of our world organizations. I will spend my time exploring this concept and writing essays that I will publish as I hone in on my sepcific area of focus.
The amount I am seeking will cover my $1,500-$1,700 round-trip plane ticket and my food for the duration of my time there. I've been blessed to have my room secured for the internship and am responsible for my ticket and food in return. Please look through and read the website below to learn more about the center and the work I will be doing. Updates regarding my research will come. God bless you in advance for blessing me and helping to propel me into the next phase of my life and future.
Sincerely, with all love and gratitude,
