Ticket to Drive

My name is John Graybill and I have limb girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD). I was diagnosed nearly 30 years ago, at the age of 17. LGMD is a progressive disease, and I have slowly lost nearly all of my physical abilities. I can no longer get into and out of a vehicle without assistance.

In August of 2023, I regained some independence when I purchased a power wheelchair, which allows me to leave my house without anyone's help.

This summer, I'm looking to purchase a wheelchair-accessible van so that I can take my daughter to and from school, be more involved in the community, and hopefully find a job. I have not been able to go out on my own for a few years, and I would like to regain some of the independence I have lost.

The purpose of this GoFundMe fundraiser is to help with the cost of hand controls. Hand controls, which are levers that replace the gas and brake foot pedals, will allow me to drive a van from my power chair.
