Tiano Family Support Campaign

Donation protected
Sam Tiano is a salesman in the food industry. It is not unusual for Sam to walk into any of his client's stores, singing and dancing. Laughter, positivity and camaraderie are Sam’s trademarks.

However, the story behind Sam is very different. When Sam was eight years old, the family (father, mother and three children) immigrated to Canada. After six months, the father returned to Europe, never to have contact with the family again. Ultimately settling in Toronto, the family struggled to deal with all of the issues in the subsidized housing complex, in which they lived. Despite growing up with economic limitations, Sam created a successful career in the food industry.

Sam met the love of his life, Sandra: they married and had a son, Andre. Health struggles began to interrupt their joyful life, when Sam was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes at age 35. Shortly after, he developed a skin condition that doctor’s struggled to diagnose. Years later, it was identified as Sarcoidosis, an auto-immune disorder.  Finally getting this disease under control, Sam suffered a heart attack.

Shortly after, his wife Sandra also suffered a heart attack. In spite of all of these health complications, Sam continued to sing and dance his way to work and through life.

Presently, Sam needs a kidney transplant. A selfless donor has volunteered to “save a life”. While he waits for surgery, Sam is currently on dialysis. He receives treatment throughout the night, so that he is able to continue working. Unfortunately, Sandra is still dealing with heart issues. These medical burdens have strained all of their financial resources.

Throughout all of these hardships, Sam maintains a positive, cheerful and hopeful outlook. We invite you to help the Tiano family deal with the financial challenges of surgery, the long recovery process and the required medications. Sadly, there is little financial support for these expenses, as there is no health plan.  Because Sam has always worked, he has no access to government subsidies.

Help us keep the song and laughter in the Tiano circle of friends.  Thank you for your generous support.
