Tiago and Julian Reyes

Hi, my name is Sam and I’m raising money to support my sister and her partner who sadly lost their beautiful twin boys Tiago and Julian.

Sasha had to have an emergency c section at 32 weeks. Doctors then realised that the boys had twin to twin transfusion syndrome. A rare pregnancy condition that affects identical twins where one twin receives too much blood and the other doesn’t have enough.

Tiago received too much blood which caused him to have 3 cardiac arrests which left him severely brain damaged. Sadly, Sasha and Luis had to say goodbye to him at only 8 days old.

Julian in turn didn’t receive enough blood which made him go into multiple organ failure. However, all of his organs seemed to recover apart from having a clot on his liver. He was making good progress, needing less breathing help, becoming more alert and tolerating more feeds.

Unfortunately, his liver problem started affecting his kidneys and he deteriorated quickly. It all became too much for him and gave up his fight 2 months after his brother.

Sasha and Luis gave Tiago the send off he deserved. A beautiful service and wake with close friends and family. Not knowing they would have to do it all over again so soon as we all believed Julian would pull through.

As you can imagine, the cost of 2 funerals is a big financial burden for most. So funds raised will go towards making Julian’s send off as special as his brother’s was and to help the family financially through this difficult time.
