Life Saving Surgery For Preston
Our little love bug Preston has been dealing with a hyperactive thyroid for over a year. From multiple blood screens to trials of different medications and doses, we were happy to learn that we were able to keep it under control, however, our last visit brought to light new information where our vet noticed that Preston has a large mass/nodule on his thyroid gland. The largest that she has ever seen (current measurement 6cm in diameter).
Initially, surgery was questionable due to size and location. An internal medicine specialist was called to consult and next thing we knew, we had to get the ball rolling as the specialist explained that the size of the nodule/mass is growing at a rapid rate. The speed of growth comes with the potential risks of eventually compressing vital areas of the neck and major blood vessels. A quick decision needs to be made to prevent going past the point of it being inoperable and left untreated. This means that he will eventually suffer. Preston’s only chance of survival is to have the mass removed. He has many more years to live a happy and healthy life.
Preston’s first evaluation visit at the DMV in Montréal (animal hospital)cost was $922.00 and we were quoted that the surgery will cost at least $5000.00. This is not including medication and follow up.
Preston is an amazing animal and companion. He is a fur ball of love who gives morning kisses and head butts. We love him and would do anything to make sure he is comfortable and healthy. He has provided us with so much love and comfort and he deserves to have this medical treatment. We were told that his prognosis would be good if we followed through with the surgery. Preston deserves to have a continued life of love and health.
We would appreciate any help towards Preston’s surgery, leading him back on the road to recovery and optimal health. Please help us help our little fur baby Preston. The thought of not being able to make this happen is heartbreaking.
Our Vet and team of specialists are so compassionate and knowledgeable. We fully trust their expertise.
It is not in our nature to ask for help but we have drained all of our resources. We will be forever grateful to all the people that donate to cover the expense of his surgery. Every little bit helps.
